Other development opportunities, large and small

We have only begun to tap the development and investment opportunities that exist in the Loreto area.  Costa Loreto itself is not the only opportunity for investors and developers.

Within Costa Loreto’s 82 hectareas is the sub-development known as Villa Julieta, a 1.2 hectarea fully serviced tract that is projected to house several luxury homes and twenty to thirty luxury condominiums, and available to prospective developers seeking a more modest entry into this market.   

Adjoining Costa Loreto to the west and north are a series of other large tracts ranging from 75 to 120 hectareas each, bordered by two kilometers of beach on the east, and by the same length of highway frontage on the west, forming an enormous block suitable for master planning and phased development starting with Costa Loreto and its marina as the core.  Most of those parcels are known to be for sale, and the rest are believed to be available.  Much of the land is flat, but some areas have sweeping views of the Loreto area.

In and around the town of Loreto are a number of parcels located on its formal beachfront promenade, or Malecon, including a set of parcels at a key intersection totaling nearly one full hectarea, and existing B&B and small hotel operations.   A few blocks from the water, within the town and near the historic mission, are other small parcels and lots suitable for a variety of commercial and residential investment, both large and small scale.

Highway One skirts the town, and along it or nearby are several parcels ranging up to 10 hectareas in size for commercial plaza development, all with good arterial access to residential areas and direct access to the highway.  Highway-front lots between town and the international airport offer another sort of opportunity, for commercial uses related to the tourism industry and the integrally related boating and fishing community, and to the large number of foreign owners who live here part time and need storage and other support for their life style. .

To the south, residential lots as well as completed homes and condominiums, both new and resale, are available in Nopolo at the Villages at Loreto Bay, and at the rustic cove setting a few miles south called El Juncalito, next to the beautiful natural port of Puerto Escondido.   Beyond these, sharing a mile-long cove called Ensenada Blanca with the Villa Group’s new resort hotel called Villa Palmar Loreto, are several designated spots for large installations, and the development group will also offer residential lots and an as yet undefined set of finished-residential options.

Beyond Ensenada Blanca is a forbidding but beautiful rocky coastline leading to San Cosme and Agua Verde – currently sleepy fishing villages but with great development potential in the more distant future and bargains in the current market for investors with a vision of the future.

Similarly, to the north of Loreto is Concepcion Bay, along whose 20 mile length there are a series of scenic coves.    Large tracts are being offered at some of these locations. It is reported that a five-star boutique hotel will shortly occupy one of those coves, and it is known that major tracts on the peninsula that encloses the bay have been bought by very powerful Mexican and Spanish development interests.   At the mouth of the bay, just a few miles south of Mulege, is Punta Suenos, a subdivision offering isolation if desired, but with easy access to the charms of the town of Mulege, and within an hour and a half of Loreto’s airport.
